Media Software Engineer

Location - New York (Hybrid/Remote/In-Office)

The role of the job is Media Software Engineer.


Designing and implementing software for media systems across all A+E Networks (A&E, Lifetime, History, etc.) is the responsibility of the media software engineer.

Working on software development projects for a team that specializes in media supply chain and media processing infrastructure, this position is essential. The management of audio, video, and other related media essence files as they travel through the company's internal and cloud-based content supply chains—including distribution to hundreds of the best cable systems and streaming platforms in the world—depends heavily on these applications and infrastructure. We are seeking a new back-end developer to assist with media workflows, data transformation, and automation of cloud-based infrastructure as we grow our workforce.

MORE ABOUT YOUR ACTIONS:

To provide back-end data processing, integrations, transformations, and automations for media workflows, write, test, and debug software, mainly in Python.
Utilizing a range of hosted and custom software solutions, assist in the design, development, and implementation of media processes in the cloud.

Together with the team tech lead, promote and follow best development practices (such unit testing).
Help create development platforms that are easy to manage, by helping to configure media processing-related development, QA, and production environments.
Provide the necessary documentation to instruct operational staff and support engineers on the functionality and troubleshooting techniques of our software tools. 

act as a point of escalation for internal teams assisting in the resolution of challenging problems involving our tools and technologies.
Team members who may only be part-time engineers can contribute to software projects by serving as mentors and helping to improve the skill set of other team members.
Encourage the department to work toward inclusion and diversity in all of its areas of responsibility.

Requirements:

A minimum of a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related discipline is required; similar experience is desired.
three or more years of expertise developing and configuring back-end software and a strong grasp of software architecture.

two or more years of experience using a scripting language, such as JavaScript, Perl, PHP, Ruby, or Python. Strong Python background is advantageous.
knowledge of Linux and UNIX-based operating systems, as well as the aptitude to carry out administrative duties like setting up environments and utilizing important system tools for troubleshooting.
knowledge of cloud computing and the resources offered by contemporary cloud infrastructure providers, including Google, Microsoft, IBM, and Oracle; an emphasis on familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS) is strongly recommended.

Pay Range for Compensation: $100,272 to $125,778 annually
Target for Annual Incentive: 7.50%
